Argegno is a justifiably popular lakefront village on the Western Shore of Lake Como, mid-way between Como and Menaggio. Argegno retains its authentic Italian charm.
Many international buyers seek properties within easy walking distance of cafes and restaurants without a steep route down and, more importantly, back up to their home. Argegno Horizons provides the ideal location.
A level 4-minute stroll takes you along ancient paths threading through the heart of the historic village centre to the piazza overlooking the lake. And yet you are just far enough from the piazza to avoid the excited hubbub of the busy central piazza, where outdoor dining is usual for the warmer months of the year.
The piazza is at the heart of village life and always lively when the warm weather draws people to sit out to enjoy a coffee, meet with friends and make the most of the warm evenings to dine outdoors.
Apart from the ‘gelateria’, selling arguably the best ice cream on Lake Como, you will find a choice of 8 cafes or bars, 6 restaurants and an excellent ‘enoteca’ (wine bar).
Shops just behind the piazza offer daily provisions from the bakers, a fruit and vegetable shop and a small grocery store. There is also a weekly market on a Monday in the car park on the lakefront.
Argegno is conveniently located mid-way along the sought-after western shore of Lake Como. Just 60 minutes easy drive from Milan Malpensa airport, and 20 minutes from the city of Como which sits at the southern tip of the lake. The Swiss border at Chiasso is only 25 minutes’ away, with skiing in the winter at St Moritz or various Italian resorts within 90 minutes’ drive.
Argegno is one of the main ferry stops on the lake, from which the rapid hydrofoil ferry takes you to the heart of Como in 20 minutes. Or in the other direction to Menaggio and Belaggio in 20 minutes.
Buses run from the piazza in Argegno along the western shore of the lake – north and south as you require. And if you prefer not to abandon your car then you can arrive at Villa Balbianello in 10 minutes and the internationally renowned gardens of Villa Carlotta in 15 minutes.
Argegno has its own lido – an outdoor lakefront swimming pool with a pizzeria and bar. This provides a busy social setting for meeting old friends and making new friends during the long summer months. Visit the Lido Di Argegno website
